Apr 10, Colombo: Sri Lanka's veteran cinema actress and Member of Parliament Malini Fonseka said the government should continue to screen South Indian Tamil movies.
Addressing a press briefing held in Colombo, MP Fonseka said that the suspension of screening Tamil movies is not a good response for the protests against Sri Lanka by Tamil cinema artistes.

The press conference was held to describe the peaceful protest planned by the organization of Sri Lankan artistes tomorrow at Colombo Independent Square. They have also planned to hand over a letter to the Indian High Commissioner against the protests of the South Indian cinema artistes.
MP Fonseka said that the Tamil movies are needed for the entertainment of the Tamil people in Sri Lanka and the Sri Lankan artistes appreciate the Tamil movies and South Indian cinema artistes.
She also argued that the ideas of a section of Buddhist monks cannot be accepted as a general idea.
Veteran actor Ravindra Randeniya said it is saddening to see their South Indian counterparts make such allegations against Sri Lanka.
The artistes have extended an invitation to the South Indian film artistes to come and visit the conflict-affected North and make their own conclusions instead of listening to the campaigns that have a hidden agenda.
