A minister’s grandson
April 8, 2013, 7:52 pmReading Jermy Irons’ comment [World View 8/4] on confusion that may be caused by ‘gay marriage’ reminds me of a true story told me by a former Director of Pensions. A rather aged Minister was a widower with no dependent offspring. He realised that if he died there would be nobody to benefit from his substantial post-mortem pension. The shrewd old rascal immediately took action to legally adopt his young grandson as his SON - thereby guaranteeing that the state coffers would continue to support his clan for many more years [till the ‘son’ would be old enough to become an MP and earn his own pension].

Notes.
Much respected and beloved Former Prime Minister W.Dahanayake did same by marrying his brother's widow and ensuring her a pension
