Puttalam District UPFA parliamentarian Arundika Fernando told Parliament yesterday that journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda, said to have gone missing, was living in France.

The MP, participating in the debate on regulations under the Sri Lanka Press Council Law, said that Ekneligoda had disguised himself and was living under another name.

MP Fernando said that when he visited France recently he had met several people who had spoken with Ekneligoda.

"Several other journalists, who are said to have disappeared, are now living in France," the MP said, adding that he was exposing the facts without taking cover behind parliamentary privileges.

The MP said that those journalists who had gone missing were now living in France, while there were cases being heard in Lankan courts on their disappearances. "Their wives stage protests, hold press conferences and blame the government for their disappearances. These journalists have left the country with the help of foreign embassies in Colombo."
