The Warakapola Police on the advice of the Attorney General had filed charges in the Warakapola Magistrate's Court against 19 suspects including Minister Seneviratne, for causing over Rs. 1 million in damages to private property.
The accused were charged on four counts including damaging the drinking water project at Kohombadeniya in the Warakapola Police Division on 6 June 2012.
However, when the case was taken up for hearing before Chief Magistrate Avantha Lakmal Wednesday, the Counsel appearing on behalf of the minister informed court that his client could not personally appear in Court due to a medical condition.
The police had filed the case against Minister Seneviratne following a complaint lodged with the Warakapola Police by Karunanayake Jayalath Bandara alleging that the Minister had threatened him and damaged his private property, after trespassing into his land located in Kohombadeniya in Warakapola last year.
The Chief Magistrate ordered Seneviratne and 19 other suspects appear before the court on July
