Buddhist extremist organization challenges Sri Lankan Minister over claim of Norwegian funds

May 13, Colombo: The general secretary of Sri Lanka's Buddhist extremist organization, Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) challenged the Construction, Engineering Services and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa to prove his accusation that it has raised funds from Norway and other western countries.
Addressing media, the general secretary of BBS Ven. Galabodaaththe Gnanasara Thero said the BBS would apologize from the public and the organization would be dissolved if the charges are proved.
"If anyone could prove that our organization had taken money from America or Norway we will obtain pardon from the people and dissolve the Bodu Bala Sena within just two hours," the Thero stressed.
Minister Wimal Weerawansa accused that the BBS has benefited from the funds donated by Norway for educational purposes.
The Buddhist extremist organization is accused of meeting Tamil Diaspora during a recent tour in the United States taken by the top members of the organization.
