JHU, NFF Want India Out

The National Freedom Front and the Jathika Hela Urumaya want India out of Sri Lanka’s economic dealings for voting against Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council last week.
NFF media spokesman Mohamed Muzamil said the government must reconsider importing products from India and the US.
Meanwhile JHU deputy secretary Udaya Gamanpilla said the Indians gained a lot through Sri Lanka economically and yet voted against the country at the UN Human Rights Council.
Gamanpilla said in future India should not stand to gain from Sri Lanka and the island should also give up the ‘neighbour’ status.
He also said that the Sampur coal power agreement with India should be cancelled. The JHU will also oppose to any Cabinet paper involving India, he said.
India voted in favour of the US resolution on Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) while Japan, a close ally of Sri Lanka, abstained from voting. (ISA)
