Suspended IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal on Friday submitted a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Javed Usmani, focusing on three points to establish that she was not at fault and only following the order of her superiors.
"She (Nagpal) has focused on three points. First that she went to Kadalpura on the instruction of District Magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar, K. Ravikant. The second point is that she never ordered demolition of the disputed wall. It was brought down by villagers after her meeting with them. She also stated that there was no unrest in the village when she returned. Her last point was that she was following the apex court order, which has been followed earlier, that no illegal construction should be allowed on government land," a source close to the suspended Gautam Budh Nagar SDM told this reporter, The Uttar Pradesh chief secretary was present at the office.
The sources said that although she has not referred the view of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav that there was communal tension because of her action to raze the wall of an under construction mosque, the officer has explained how it was she only who managed to sensitise the villagers against any encroachment on government land.
For the record, while her second point was incorporated by the District Magistrate in his explanation that Nagpal had not ordered pulling down the wall, her third point was raised by IAS Association secretary Sanjay Bhoosreddy during his meeting with Uni on Minister V. Narayanasamy.
On its part, the Samajwadi Party government appears to be dragging the suspension issue and is likely to serve chargesheet later to the IAS office. As per government rules, the chargesheet has to be handed over to the officer concerned within 45 days.
SP leader's role exposed
A sting operation by Aaj Tak Channel has exposed Samajwadi Party leaders ' role behind the suspension of Durga Shakti Nagpal who fought the sand mafia in Gautam Buddh Nagar.
Local SP leader Narinder Bhati's brother Kailash Bhati has been caught on camera revealing that he along with other party leaders got the IAS officer suspended as she had been troubling the sand mafia. Bhati said Nagpal was "interfering in their work and impounded several sandfilled trucks and dumpers."
He reiterated that the government was adamant on Nagpal's suspension as the SP was getting a political leverage out of it.
Earlier, a video tape that emerged from Kadalpura purportedly showed UP agro chairman Narinder Bhati bragging about his political clout. "I talked to Mulayam. Then I talked to Akhileshji at 10.30pm.
The suspension order came at the DM's office at 11.11pm. It took 41 minutes to get the SDM suspended," Bhati is heard telling his supporters on July 28, a day after Nagpal was suspended.

High court seeks report
The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Friday issued notices to Central and the state governments seeking reports on suspension of Noida SDM Durga Shakti Nagpal.
Responding to a PIL, the HC bench asked the state to furnish details regarding the actions Nagpal had taken.

Kejriwal wants Durga to join AAP
The Aam Aadami Party (AAP) on Friday asked suspended IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal to join their party and contest Lok Sabha elections against Mulayam Singh Yadav. "If Durga wants to fight elections, AAP welcomes her to fight it against Mulayam or anyone else," AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said.
