The short film Dosa Hunt follows a group of young men searching for the perfect Indian crepe in New York City – tackling issues of cultural identity on the way.
This is the question Amrit Singh, a music critic and son of Punjabi immigrants, set out to answer. He is joined on his quest by a gang of musician friends including jazz pianist Vijay Iyer and members of the bands Vampire Weekend and Das Racist.
The film isn’t just a freewheeling escapade. Singh sees Dosa Hunt as highlighting the views and lifestyle of a new generation of young South Asians in the US and providing creative role models for young people.
Tom Brook reports from New York.
