Chairman of Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha Sampath Chandrapushpa Vidanapathirana (SLFP) leaves Colombo Magistrate Court yesterday morning after he was directed to appear in court on Nov. 1. Vidanapathirana is among eight suspects arrested in connection with the killing of British national Khuram Saikh over 18 months ago. All eight suspects are on bail. They have also been accused of raping Saikh’s partner, Victoria. The British High Commission recently said that it was deeply disappointed that trial proceedings had not yet commenced over the killing of British citizen, though 18 months had elapsed since the crime was committed in Tangalle.
