Sri Lanka's main opposition calls for Interpol investigation into DIG

Fri, Jun 21, 2013, 11:29 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka. June 21, Colombo: Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) has called for an Interpol investigation into DIG Vass Gunawardena.
Chief Opposition Whip, John Amaratunga has told parliament that the government should seek Interpol assistance in carrying out an investigation into the actions of the controversial senior police officer.
He has said that the opposition did not have faith in the investigation carried out by the police into DIG Vass Gunawardena.
The DIG is currently in remand for his alleged involvement in the murder of a businessman in May.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has uncovered that the group that murdered the businessman was involved in several other murders as well.
