May 21, Colombo: The eldest daughter of Rohana Wijeweera, the late leader and founder of Sri Lanka's Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) was arrested by the police for allegedly assaulting her mother and younger brother.
Mahabage police arrested the 32-year-old woman Dasun Easha Wijeweera and produced her before the Wattala Magistrate Monday.
The Magistrate has ordered to remand the suspect until June 03 and also ordered a psychiatric evaluation on Ms. Wijeweera.
Late leader's wife has complained to the police that her daughter assaulted her and her son, suspect�s brother on Saturday and left home.
Following the mysterious death of the Marxist leader in 1989 while in custody of government troops, his wife and six children were given protection by the government and the family resides in the Welisara Naval Base.
