Nidhi Singal
Price: Rs 43,500
Specs: 10.1-inch display; Windows 8 Pro; 1280x800 p; Intel Atom 1.8GHz dual-core processor; 2GB RAM; 32GB internal storage, microSD card slot support; Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G; 680 grams; 178 x 261 x 9.2mm
To give its new tablet a premium feel, HP has opted for a good mix of glass and aluminium. The 10.1-inch 1280x800 p display is sealed behind a Gorilla Glass 2 and aluminium chassis. Everything is military grade and you have to just hold this device to vouch for that.
At 680 grams, it isn't the lightest tablet, but the 9.2-mm thickness and thin edges makes it convenient to hold. The power key, auto-rotation lock, 3.5mm jack and volume controls have all been placed where they are easiest to access. There is also a covered flap at the back that holds a slot for a SIM card for 3G connectivity along with a microSD card slot for expandable memory. Taking a cue from Apple, HP has added a proprietary connector at the bottom for charging the tablet and connecting with the long list of accessories.
The ElitePad 900 runs on Windows 8 Pro and is powered by 1.8GHz dual-core Intel Atom processor with 2GB RAM. This takes care of all the regular computing without any complaints. In addition to the Windows 8 features are HP apps like Security Manager, Credential Manager, Password Manager, Device Access Manager with Just In Time Authentication and Drive Encryption.
The 1080p front facing camera can be used for high-end video conferencing. There is also an 8MP rear camera but we doubt if that would be used often. Images captured by this camera can be edited easily using the HP PageLift technology onboard. The loud and clear audio output works well for videoconferencing and watching videos.
The battery is good and lasted close to 10 hours on a single charge. That is good enough to survive a day's work under normal circumstances.
Why We Fell For It? Great accessories make it perfect for enterprise use.

ACCESSORIES HP has come up with a range of accessories that compensates for the missing ports on the tablet and makes it ideal to be used inside and outside the office PRODUCTIVITY JACKET Rs 6,999 This jacket converts the tablet into a hybrid. It provides the much-needed protection while offering a superb keyboard. A host of connectivity options including USB ports and a memory card slot are placed at the back. With this accessory, the tablet can take three different postures. JACKET Rs 4,907 This multi-purpose jacket not only adds protection but also brings with it two USB ports, a fullsize HDMI port and SD card slot. But it adds considerable weight making the ElitePad heavy to hold. There is an option of adding battery to the jacket and turning it into a battery extender but this comes at a cost. DOCKING STATION Rs 8,345 This charging station too brings in a variety of connectors. It has got four USB ports along with an HDMI, VGA, Ethernet and Audio out. With this on the desk, the Elitepad is as good as a full-fledged PC. |
